The second European conference on the methods and results of social and behavioural research on AIDS will be held in Paris, France, from 12 to 15 January 1998. The conference is being organized by the French National Agency on AIDS Research (ANRS), with support from the European Commission (DG V) and the French Ministry of Health.

The aim of the conference is to assess the impact of recent progress in biomedical research and treatment, and the evolution of the epidemic, on the social, behavioural and ethical contexts of AIDS prevention and care. The impact of AIDS research on social sciences' issues and methods will also be analysed.

The conference will be open to all areas of the human and social sciences, with particular attention given to the following three topics:

- Risk perception and risk management;
- People living with HIV/AIDS: daily life and care;
- Social and political mobilization in the fight against AIDS: from specialization to normalizaton?

During the conference, time will be set aside for interdisciplinary confrontation between the social and biomedical sciences.
