ESPRIT Electronic Commerce Workshop
The aim of the workshop is to facilitate the exchange of information and to promote cooperation between the standardization and RTD communities. CEN, EWOS and EBES will, in particular, present the advantages that they can offer to potential project proposers. These include:
- A network of national standards institutes throughout Europe as an ideal option to ensure optimal involvement of SMEs, not only at the level of requirements gathering, but also at the level of dissemination of results and stimulation of awareness;
- An open workshop mode of operation able to set up, at low cost and with minimal delay, a structure to take up pre-normative RTD work and to organize the consensus building process necessary for standardization;
- A recognized input mechanism into the formal standardization bodies, both European and worldwide;
- A reliable way to guarantee that the standardization aspects of the project are not dealt with in isolation, but generate synergy from related efforts, even if these take place in other technical sectors.
Proposals for projects in the field of electronic commerce were invited within the eighth ESPRIT call for proposals launched on 15 March 1997 (OJ No C 84 of 15.3.1997 p. 15). The deadline for the submission of electronic commerce proposals is 17 June 1997 (17.00).
