This year's European Telework Week (ETW97) will take place from 3 to 10 November 1997. As in previous years, ETW97 will feature a wide range of international, national, regional and local events and activities across the European Union.

The European Telework Weeks, an initiative of DG XIII (Telecommunications, information market and exploitation of research) of the European Commission, provide opportunities for everyone who has an interest in telework: employers, teleworkers, unions, suppliers of telework technologies and services, policy-makers and environmentalists.

ETW97 will be launched by the Fourth European Telework Assembly which will take place in Stockholm, Sweden, on 24-26 September. Other events already scheduled in the lead up to the week include:

- Open Workshop of European Telework Projects and Initiatives: Brussels, Belgium; 5 June 1997;
- Second International Workshop on Telework: Amsterdam, The Netherlands; 5 September 1997.

The UK national event for ETW97 will be "Telework World '97 - Tomorrow's workplace today", to be held in London from 5 to 7 November 1997.

If you have any involvement in telework you can benefit from ETW97 by running or associating with a local event, attending a local event, or participating in the overall European activities. There will also be "European Telework Awards" for a variety of categories recognizing outstanding contributions to the development of telework in Europe.
