A European conference on quality engineering in software technology, CONQUEST-1, will take place in Nuremberg, Germany, on 25-26 September 1997. The conference, intended to be the first in an annual series, is organized by Arbeitskreis Software-Qualit„t Franken e.V. (ASQF), in collaboration with the "Bayern Innovativ" Innovation Relay Centre.

The ASQF club was founded as a follow-on from the ESPITI (European Software Process Improvement Training Initiative) project, part of the ESSI (European System and Software Initiative) programme. Its aim is to provide a forum for the exchange of experiences, ideas and knowledge in the field of software development and quality management.

The CONQUEST conferences will include an interesting programme of invited lectures, as well as an accompanying exhibition of tools and services for software quality management. There will, in addition, be an opportunity to join the EUREX (European Experience Exchange) workshop which will inform participants of ongoing "Process Improvement Experiments" (PIEs).

The conference programme will include presentations of six ESSI projects in the field of training and awareness for software development: RAPID, SCATE, INSPIRE, TRAPSP, MURMUR and TAPISTRY (see RCN 8680).
