Hannover Fair 1998

The world famous "Hannover Messe", the world's largest industrial technology trade fair, will take place in Hannover, Germany, from 20 to 25 April 1998. The unique concept of the Hannover Fair, bringing together leading trade fairs in a range of industrial sectors, makes this a major event for industry and business.

The 1998 Hannover Fair is expected to bring together approximately 7,000 exhibitors from over 60 countries. The industrial sectors represented include:

- Materials handling and logistics (CeMAT);
- Robotics and automation;
- Surface treatment;
- Subcontracting and industrial materials;
- Production equipment for electrical engineering and electronics;
- Energy and environmental technology;
- Installation technology for buildings;
- Lighting technology (World Light Show);
- Plastics technology;
- Engineering materials;
- Laser technology;
- Education and training for business;
- Industrial design.

The event also features an extensive conference and corporate lecture programme. The "Partner Country" at HANNOVER FAIR '98 will be the Philippines - one of the major countries in the fast-growing ASEAN region. The spotlight will be on the country's infrastructure, its technological and economic strengths, as well as the broad opportunities for investment projects and joint ventures.

CORDIS, the Community Research and Development Information Service, will be present at the Hannover Fair. Visitors to the event will be able to see demonstrations of the range of services and products offered by CORDIS, including: Watch-CORDIS, the CORDIS CD-ROM and the CORDIS World Wide Web server.
