Information Day on Nuclear Fission research in the Fifth Framework Programme

An Information Day relating to nuclear fission research activities within the EU's Fifth Framework Programme will take place in Oxford, United Kingdom, on 1 April 1998. The Day is organized by several UK government departments.
The Day's programme will include presentations by European Commission and UK Office of Science and Technology (OST) representatives. The Fifth Framework Programme, and particularly the Euratom elements, will be presented. The differences between the new Programme and the Fourth Framework Programme will also be outlined. Three separate sessions will cover the different areas of fission research proposed for the Fifth Framework Programme.
Participants will have the opportunity to gain an early insight into the likely form and content of the programme, get information on the processes involved in submitting proposals for funding, and begin developing ideas on proposals and possible international consortia in advance of the first call for proposals. A dinner will be held the evening before the Information Day, at which the guest speaker will be a senior figure from the nuclear community.
