Innovation within the Fifth Framework Programme

The Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum, the Innovation Relay Centre based in Stuttgart, is organizing a seminar on the Fifth RTD Framework Programme on 23 April 1998 in Stuttgart, Germany.
The theme of the event is "Perspectives for innovation in Europe", and the presentations and discussions will look at the Commission's plans for supporting innovation under the new Framework Programme. Speakers will include Robert Verrue, Director-General of the European Commission's DG XIII (Telecommunications, information market and exploitation of research), Giulio Grata, Director of the INNOVATION programme (DG XIII), and Rolf Linkohr, MEP, Member of the European Parliament's Committee on Research, Technological Development and Energy.
As well as the presentations and discussion of innovation under the Fifth Framework Programme, there will also be a presentation of the work of the Innovation Relay Centres network during the first phase (1995-1997). This presentation, which will draw lessons from the first phase as well as underlining the successes, will be given by Javier Hernandez-Ros, responsible for the IRC network within the Commission's DG XIII.
