Roadmap Projects on Socio-economic aspects and sustainable development: IST research challenges for FP6

The New Working Environments Unit of the European Commissions Directorate-General for Information Society, in the framework of the FP6 IST Programme, is organising a workshop on Roadmap Projects on Socio-economic aspects / sustainable development on June 18, 2003 (http://cordis.europa.eu/ist/ka2/welcome.html(opens in new window)).

18 June 2003
Belgium
The workshop is envisaged to be the closing event of four strategic roadmaps launched by the KAII in early summer 2002 with the aim to prepare the ground for research initiatives in the Sixth Framework Programme using the new instruments of Integrated Projects (IP) and Networks of Excellence (NoE).
The major objectives of these projects are:
· to identify the research challenges in the respective area, to assess Europes competitive position and potential, and to derive strategic roadmaps for applied research driven by visionary scenarios; ,· to build constituencies and reach consensus by means of feedback loops with the stakeholders at all relevant levels.
The workshop objective is to explore the roadmaps tangible results for future research in this area, enabling new ways and visions of approaching the future research challenges. We would like to provide an open forum to present the ongoing research topics and landing places for years ahead.
The outcome of this meeting would be translating Roadmaps into FP6 strategic priorities and research agendas and formulating direct proposals of this working group towards the research challenges and strategies to be suggested for inclusion into the Work Programme 2005/2006 research priorities.
As to the workshop character, the objective is to bring together the Roadmaps partners and a select interdisciplinary group of interested players from relevant fields and other IST projects.
If you would like to do a short presentation maximum 3-4 slides 5 minutes duration about your research ideas, please forward the slides in a electronic format to us, so we can organise them collectively in coherent way. The setting will be rather informal with short presentations to allow for exchange of views. We will contact you to confirm participation and discuss presentation details, subject to acceptance of contributions proposed and available space.
