High performance tools for cutting materials

An international conference on "High performance tools - the key to innovative cutting edge technology" will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany, on 3 and 4 November 1998. The event will be organized by Verein Deutscher Ingenieure (VDI), the German Engineers Association, in cooperation with the Collège International pour l'Étude Scientifique des Techniques de Production Mécanique (CIRP).
The conference will focus on reports of practical experience with high-performance cutting materials from experts in Germany and abroad. These application-oriented contributions will be supplemented by papers dealing with fundamental trends in the area. The conference will cover four main topics:
- Development trends in cutting materials and processes;
- Machining hard components for engine technology;
- Machining aerospace materials;
- Process monitoring and process modelling.
The conference will end with presentations from experts from the USA, Japan and Europe on the global trends in markets and technologies in the field of cutting processes. The conference is aimed at managers and engineers from the fields of design, operations scheduling, operational control and production of high performance tools.
