Global Industry Leaders Gear Up for World Nano-Economic Congress

International corporate giants such as NEC, BASF, Intel, Elan, Seagate, IBM, Bell Labs Lucent Technologies, Cabot Corporation, Elementis Specialties, Mitsubishi, and FEI are just some of the global leading companies that will be gathering in Dublin on 20-21 April 2005, at the World Nano-Economic Congress Ireland to discuss how nanotechnologies are impacting their industries.

These blue chip companies from the electronics, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries will provide their perspective on the nanotechnologies they are already integrating into their products, as well as indicating the research that appears the most promising for further investment, leading ultimately to new and improved products.
Elan Corporation's Senior Director of Project Planning and Management, Dr. Gary Liversidge will discuss Nanotechnology and Drug Delivery. Dr. Liversidge was one of the key researchers who developed Elans proprietary NanoCrystal technology, which is currently being used by Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research & Development (J&J PRD) in a Phase III clinical trial of a long acting injectable formulation of its paliperidone palmitate in patients with Schizophrenia.
Seagate's R&D Director of Advanced Devices Development, Dr. Sining Mao, will address the application of nanotechnology in data storage. Seagate is one of the worlds top data storage companies with reported revenues of $6.44 billion last year., ,Intel Ireland's Nanotechnology Program Manager, Dr. Jenny Paterson, will discuss Intels view of the innovation challenges ahead in silicon nanoelectronics.
IBM Zurich Research's Manager of Business Development & Relations, Dr. Erich Ruetsche, who will examine in a panel discussion the future of nanotechnology in industry and the trend of nanotechnology in Europe.
NEC Corporation's General Manager of Fundamental Research Labs, Dr. Jun'Ichi Sone, who will analyze the impact of Nanotechnology in the Development of other Technology-based Industries
These are just a few of the 40+ speakers on the agenda for the WNEC Ireland that includes six industry tracks and two days of general session presentations.
The WNEC event series serves as a focal point for those at all places in the value chain involved in moving nanotechnology out of the lab and into the marketplace. It will examine in depth both how these technologies can become commercialized as well as how they will impact industries after they have been adopted. The conference sessions will feature keynote presentations, as well as vertical industry tracks and discussions.
