Transport programme - Paving the way for sustainable mobility
With some 270 million euro contributed to projects in all key transport sectors, the Transport research programme has been a major element in the development of the EU's common transport policy, with the overriding aims of establishing an integrated transport system and achieving sustainable mobility. More than half of the projects funded have already been completed, and many more are scheduled to finish in the coming months. The conference will provide the opportunity to bring together policy-makers and researchers, as well as practitioners, to encourage better contacts between the different groups.
The conference will cover the following themes:
- Efficiency and quality;
- Intermodality;
- Sustainable mobility: economic aspects;
- Human factors;
- Sustainable mobility: integrated policy;
- Safety;
- Sustainable mobility: environmental aspects;
- Interoperability;
- Social aspects.
Participants will also see in general how transport research is being addressed under the Fifth Framework Programme, and how current results may be accessed.
Further information will be published in September 1999, including a registration form and final programme. The draft programme may be found on the Web, at:
