A SPRINT conference, The Future of Research and Technology Organizations (ORTs) in Europe, is to take place in Brussels on 16-17 November 1993.

The objective of the conference is to evaluate the changes that have been occurring in the functioning of these kinds of organizations at regional, national and Community levels. The conference also aims to define the role of ORTs, specifically in the process of technology transfer and innovation in response to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Europe.

SPRINT, the Strategic Programme for Innovation and Technology Transfer, actively encourages a number of ORT networks in order to promote transnational collaboration. Currently, SPRINT provides financial assistance to 50 transnational projects covering 250 different organizations.

It is hoped that the conference will provide the necessary forum for an exchange of information and experience for all interested parties.
