International congress on information society - IT4ALL
The congress is being organised by Lantik through the Department of public finance of the provincial government of Bizkaia in Bilbao, Spain.
With the official backing of the European Union, through the Directorate-General for the Information Society, the congress aims to attain a proposal, addressed to the international community, requesting reformulation of article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in order to include access to information as a fundamental right.
The four-day event will be divided into four separate sessions:
- Regional democracy, transparency, trust and social cohesion.
- The benefits of e-inclusion for a better quality of life in the community.
- Technical choices (based on a review of ongoing experiences and programmes in Europe and other countries.
- Implementing the information society at regional level: role and responsibility of all stakeholders.
There will also be special intervention sessions, which will tackle the role of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and its role in society: 'ICT and the person', 'ICT and spare time' and 'ICT and business'. Workshops will operate in parallel with these sessions with a view to opening up the topics for debate.
Simultaneously with the congress, a seminar on the dissemination of science in the information society will be held and a work group consisting of representatives from European and Latin American regions and municipalities, will be organised.For further information, please consult the following web address:
