A workshop on "Recycling of Materials and Energy-Saving and Designs for Recycling" will take place in Eindhoven in the Netherlands on 17-18 March 1994.

The workshop is to be held as part of the European Commission's OPET initiative. OPET (Organizations for the Promotion of Energy Technology) is a EU-wide network of organizations, within the framework of the THERMIE programme, for the promotion of European energy technologies on behalf of the Directorate-General for Energy (DG XVII). Each organization within OPET has particular experience in the area of energy technology. At present the OPET network consists of 40 organizations throughout the European Union, with over 2,000 experts in the energy and related fields.

Recycling of waste materials has proven to be an excellent way both to reduce the consumption of raw materials and to enhance the efficiency of the energy manufacturing process.

The purpose of this workshop is to exchange know-how on the energy contents of materials, the development of "green" designs, and the recycling of complex products such as cars and refrigerators. Each of these subjects will form the topic of presentations and papers. The workshops will also provide the opportunity for panel discussions and meetings.
