A workshop on the ethical aspects of stem cell research in Europe will be held in Berlin, Germany, on 19 and 20 April 2007.

Organised by the EU-funded EuroStemCell and ESTOOLS projects, the meeting will focus on ethical aspects of possible clinical application of stem cell research and derivation of human embryonic stem cell lines and their alternatives.

Issues up for discussion include when and under what conditions clinical trials of stem cell based therapy can be justified, and whether there is a need for more human embryonic stem cell lines for research at the present.For more information, please visit:
