The third annual WePreserve conference entitled 'Costs, benefits and motivations for digital preservation' will be held from 28 to 30 October in Nice, France. It is jointly organised by the EU-funded 'DigitalPreservationEurope' (DPE), 'Preservation and long-term access through networked services' (PLANETS) and 'Cultural, artistic and scientific knowledge for preservation, access and retrieval' (CASPAR) projects.

The conference will present the most recent results of CASPAR, PLANETS, DPE and other EU-funded research and development work into methods, tools and services to facilitate the preservation of digital content. It aims to attract digital content owners and managers, bring them together with leading experts in digital preservation, raise awareness of challenges and present solutions which have been developed and identified.

'Digital content is being created in increasing quantities, and the rapid pace of change in software systems puts continued access to digital information at risk,' the conference organisers explain. 'It is of vital importance that we develop and implement solutions now so that we can continue to exploit our valuable intellectual property and digital heritage into the future.'For further information, please visit:
