The MENCAWAR ('Mediterranean network for cataloguing and web fruitions of ancient artworks and inscriptions') project will hold a workshop on 24 November in Pisa, Italy.

Marking the imminent completion of the project, which was funded under the European Commission's Sixth Framework Programme (FP6), the research consortium will present its results, as well as those of similar projects, in order to define the future prospects for collaboration in the cataloguing of artworks.

In MENCAWAR, the University of Pisa in Italy, the British Museum in the UK, the University of Yarmouk in Jordan and the University of Saint Joseph in Lebanon came together to create a common database of South Arabian, Nabataean and Phoenician inscriptions which will be accessible not only to researchers but to anyone interested in the subject. In so doing, MENCAWAR hopes to make new methodologies widely available for the study and conservation of ancient artifacts and inscriptions.For further information, please visit:
