The First European Workshop on HCI Design and Evaluation will take place on 8 April 2011 in Limassol, Cyprus.

The field of human-computer interaction (HCI) focuses on the study, planning and design of the interaction between people and computers. It covers computer science, behavioural sciences and design, among other areas.

A basic goal of HCI is to make computers more usable and receptive to user needs. Researchers in the field often work on developing new design methodologies, experimenting with new hardware devices, prototyping new software systems, exploring new paradigms for interaction, and developing models and theories of interaction.

Topics set to be covered during the event include:
- current use of design and evaluation methods;
- sector-unique design and evaluation methodologies;
- design and evaluation conceptual models and practical protocols;
- transdisciplinary metaphors, methods, and models;
- transferability of HCI design and evaluation methods to other sectors;
- critical reviews of quality attributes and software standards currently prioritised in sector-based HCI design and evaluation methods;
- ways of HCI design and evaluation method selection, based on domain attributes;
- empirical evaluations by quantitative and qualitative methods of domain-specific HCI methods;
- case studies and ethnographic analyses.For further information, please visit: http://sites.google.com/site/ehcide/(opens in new window)
