Seventh International Workshop on Uncertainty Reasoning for the Semantic Web, Bonn, Germany
The phrase 'semantic web' is used to refer a web of data that helps machines to understand the meaning of information on the internet. This is done by extending the network of hyperlinked web pages by inserting machine-readable metadata about pages and how they are related to each other. The goal is to enable automated agents to access the internet more intelligently and perform tasks on behalf of users.
Effective methods for reasoning under uncertainty are vital for realising many aspects of the semantic web. The ability of current-generation web technology to handle uncertainty is limited. However, there has been an upwards trend in demand for uncertainty reasoning technology among semantic web researchers and developers.
The event will bring together representatives of the uncertainty reasoning and the semantic web communities. For further information, please visit: http://c4i.gmu.edu/ursw/2011(opens in new window)
