The Fifth Workshop Digital Social Networks will take place on 19 September 2012 in Braunschweig, Germany.

With the technologies and concepts of Web 2.0 new digital forms of support are available for the development of participatory social networks. As a new form of cooperation systems, social software and social media enable new modes of collaboration. The popularity of high-profile websites illustrates user interest as well as questions of privacy, data protection and identity protection.

Social media has also led to significant discussion and research on media presence in open- and semi-open forums and associated sociological phenomena. One example is the tremendous amount of data generated on social networks and websites that lends itself to the prognosis of social trends.

The workshop will analyse a wide range of topics from theoretical and practical points of view, including:
- social software and commerce;
- social search engines and aggregators;
- methods for analysing digital social networks and social interaction;
- trust, reputation, authentic contents and social control in digital networks;
- social networking services in science;
- special graph properties in social networks;
- regulations and freedom in digital social networks;
- technical modeling of social structures;
- business cases and economic evaluation of digital social networks;
- social networks and games;
- interoperability, data exchange and data synchronisation in social portals;
- personalisation and adaptation to user preference;
- user behaviour in digital social networks.For further information, please visit: here
