The 'Neurons under stress 2012' conference will take place from 6 to 7 September 2012 in Dublin, Ireland.

A neurological disorder is one which affects the body's nervous system. Structural, biochemical or electrical abnormalities in the brain, spinal cord or other nerves can result in a range of symptoms. There are many recognised neurological disorders, some relatively common, but many rare. They may be assessed by neurological examination, and studied and treated within the specialities of neurology and clinical neuropsychology.

There are several gaps in understanding the many issues related to neurological disorders, but researchers already know enough about their nature and treatment to be able to shape effective policy responses to some of the most prevalent among them.

The event will provide a forum for discussions and exchange of information for scientists and researchers on the latest trends and developments in this field. Session topics will include:
- cell survival and cell death responses in neurons;
- transcriptional stress responses and neuronal injury;
- non-cell autonomous pathways and neuroinflammation;
- bioenergetics, mitochondria and intracellular transport;
- translational control of stress and survival responses;
- stress granule formation and RNA metabolism.For further information, please visit: http://conference2012.neuro-centre.ie/
