The Sixth International Perspective on Water Resources and the Environment will take place from 7 to 9 January 2013 in Izmir, Turkey.

Growing demands for water and increased pollution loads threaten the quality of many lakes, rivers, estuaries and groundwater bodies around the world and pose serious threats to public health, agricultural and industrial production, ecological functions, and biodiversity.

Water resources management has often focused on satisfying increasing demands for water without adequately accounting for the need to protect water quality and preserve ecosystems and biodiversity. The environmentally sustainable development and management of water resources is a critical and complex issue for both rich and poor countries. It is challenging because it often entails difficult trade-offs among social, economic, and political considerations.

The conference will aim to highlight the various aspects of water resources because of its many links to poverty reduction, including health, agricultural productivity, industrial and energy development, and sustainable growth in downstream communities. .The event is intended to be a forum for engineers, scientists, planners, economists and allied professionals to discuss all issues related to water and the environment. For further information, please visit: http://content.asce.org/conferences/ipwe2013/index.html
