Seventh International Conference on Waste Management and the Environment, Ancona, Italy
As European society has grown wealthier it has generated an ever-increasing amount of waste. Each year in the European Union alone EU citizens throw away 3 billion tonnes of waste - some 90 million tonnes of it hazardous. This amounts to about 6 tonnes of solid waste for every man, woman and child, according to Eurostat. It is clear that treating and disposing of all this material - without harming the environment - is becoming a major headache.
The effects of current waste disposal and a movement towards greater accountability for effective waste management require better practices and safer solutions. This creates a need for more research on current disposal methods that are currently used and available.
The conference will be a forum for the exchange of scientific information and work on the current situation of waste management amongst professionals, researchers, government departments and local authorities. For further information, please visit
