The second meeting of the Advisory Forum of the European Training Foundation will take place in Turin, Italy, on 12-14 June 1995.

The European Training Foundation, set up in January 1995 as part of the EU's overall assistance initiative to support economic reconstruction in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, implements training and education reform activities agreed in the context of the European Union's PHARE and TACIS programmes.

The Foundation's Advisory Forum will bring together high-level training experts from EU Member States, the partner countries from the former Eastern bloc and representatives from international organizations such as the World Bank, EBRD, OECD and ILO.

The first meeting of the Forum was held in Brussels in October 1994. At this time, a number of sub-groups were established focusing on the following issues: management of the vocational education system in a decentralized structure; the role of the private sector in vocational education and training; standards in vocational education and training; and strategies for continuing education, retraining of the labour force, staff development in public administration and enterprises.

The second meeting of the Advisory Forum will focus on the work undertaken by these sub-groups and discuss how results may be put into practice. It will also discuss the draft work programme of the Foundation for 1996-1998.
