The Institute of European Trade and Technology (IETT) in London is organizing a one-day seminar entitled "Exploitation plans, intellectual property rights and collaboration agreements for projects in Framework Four".

The seminar, which will be held in London, UK, on 12 February 1996, is aimed at assisting UK organizations in preparing proposals for RTD funding under the Community's Fourth Framework Programme for research and technological development.

The specified objectives of the seminar are to:

- Raise awareness of the commercial importance of exploitation and the business opportunities it creates;
- Inform the participants of the issues that need to be addressed when writing an exploitation plan, including how to assess the exploitation potential of project results;
- Explain to participants how to justify and defend their exploitation plans in the light of evaluation criteria;
- Outline different types of Intellectual Property (IP) that may be subject to exploitation (patents, design rights, copyright, etc.);
- Guide participants on the legal requirements for protecting IP legally and commercially prior to entering licensing agreements;
- Assist companies who are forming collaborations on the essential issues which should be covered when putting together a collaboration agreement.

Comprehensive documentation packs will be provided including speaker overheads, check lists and other relevant material. The courses will be led by specialists from the Technology Broker, Cambridge, a leading technology brokerage, consulting and training agency.
