Lasers and optics in manufacturing

A "European Symposium on Lasers and Optics in Manufacturing" will be held in Munich, Germany, from 16 to 20 June 1997. The symposium, which will be held in parallel with the LASER'97 exhibition, is supported by DG XII of the European Commission.

The symposium takes the form of a number of complementary conferences, which will highlight directions of current research and developments. The conferences will cover the following topics:

- Lasers in material processing;
- Optical systems for rapid prototyping and flexible manufacturing;
- Optical fibre sensor technologies and applications;
- Sensors, sensor systems and sensor data processing;
- Optical inspection and micromeasurements;
- Micro-optical technologies for measurement, sensors and microsystems;
- New image processing techniques and applications;
- Vision systems - algorithms, methods, components and applications.

The organizers invite researchers in these fields to submit abstracts of papers for presentation at the Symposium. The deadline for receipt of abstracts is 20 December 1996.
