The 14th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition will be held in Barcelona, Spain, from 30 June to 4 July 1997.

The conference, which is supported by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre, will cover the whole range of topics within photovoltaics from fundamentals, production technology and thin-film devices to systems components and applications. Emphasis will be placed on implementation and financing strategies. There will be three components: oral presentations, poster sessions and an industrial exhibition to foster business.

In addition, prizes will be awarded for excellence. The European Commission will award the Alexandre Edmont Becquerel Prize for outstanding contributions to the development of photovoltaic solar energy during the official opening session. The Augustin Mouchot Prize, awarded annually to individuals or organizations that have created the basis for a solar civilization in their respective fields of science, industry, communication and politics, will be announced by EUROSOLAR at the closing session of the conference.
