A training course on food science and technology will be held in Molina de Segura, Spain, from September 1997 to February 1998. The course is supported by the European Social Fund, and organized by the Spanish Research Council (CSIC) and the National Technological Centre for the Canning Industry (CTC).

The aim of the course is to disseminate knowledge on food science and technology, mainly in the most important fields for the region of Murcia. These include fruit and vegetable canning, freezing, pickles, ready-to-eat dishes, spices, refrigeration, aseptic technology, containers, meat products, etc. The course is aimed primarily at young professionals with university level education.

Among the topics to be covered are: raw materials, water and food industry, biotechnology, preservation methods, microbiology, new technologies, nutrition principles, food law, and lab practices.
