The European Commission is seeking a correspondent in Japan to provide accurate and up-to-date information on the development of the Information Society in Japan. The information to be supplied to the Commission will cover, for the electronic data processing, telecommunications, consumer electronics, software and components sectors: - Public administration initiatives: regulatory framework, competition issues, standardisation issues, research programmes; - Evaluation of the impact of regulation on the market; - Emerging information and communications technologies products and services, and their potential applications; - Evaluation of the impact of these products, technologies and applications, both on end-users and the supplying industries themselves; - Emerging companies and skills; - Major industrial events and their understanding (e.g. alliances, technological/commercial agreements); - Industrial innovation issues. The contract would last for 12 months.
