As part of the European Union's enterprise policy, the European Commission, DG XXIII, has published an invitation to tender for research related to the impact of the internal market on SMEs. The contractor must produce three independent reports concerning the situation and prospects of European SMEs, enabling the assessment of recent developments affecting SMEs, the identification of their strengths and weaknesses, as well as the structural adjustments linked to the functioning of the internal market. The contract is divided into two lots which will involve the following: - Lot 1: the production of a main report, an economic analysis of the situation of SMEs in the European economic area. This will include an in-depth analysis of the legal, administrative and financial environment of European SMEs and the examination of two study themes. A database will also be created and additional checks as required by the Commission; - Lot 2: The production of a CD-ROM and an Internet version of the work carried out. The contracts will each run for a period of 18 months.
