The latest CORDIS regional service providing a wide range of research and innovation related information for Wales, United Kingdom, has recently been launched. This new information service which has been developed by the Welsh Innovation Relay Centre, in partnership with CORDIS, is the sixth in a series of regional services launched on the CORDIS Website. The CORDIS regional service for Wales grants easy access to a range of information on research activities and infrastructure within the region, highlighting specialities and promoting cooperation and technology transfer opportunities. It also enables users to gain an overview of the Welsh position within EU R&D through the use of a map-based search. The user can select a specific region and search for related information in three of the CORDIS databases for projects, partners and results. Other information provided serves to introduce the region and its economy and government, workforce, industries and investment statistics. Sections on infrastructure and on the Welsh Regional Technology Plan (RTP) provide important information and contact details for R&D related activities within the region. Contact details for the Innovation and Technology Counsellors (ITCs) who operate through Business Connect Wales and deliver advice on innovation and technology to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) are also provided for the eight ITCs currently operating in the region. Another important feature is the links section allowing users direct access to more information on Wales and Welsh technology. Links are provided to universities, research organisations, government and local authorities, local networks and other RTD and innovation related bodies. In addition, contact information for RTD support services and networks with a commitment to research and innovation in the region are also provided.
