The European Commission, DG IA, has published a TACIS contract information brochure detailing a number of projects to be tendered under the 1998 budget for cross-border cooperation within the TACIS programme. The brochure provides an outline of four projects planned in the field of the environment, and one in enterprise restructuring and development. The brochure contains a detailed description of each project, covering partner organisations, project justification, objectives and components. Details of the total cost of the project, its relevance to other activities and programmes, its cross-border impact, and implementation timetable are also provided. The projects being tendered are as follows: - Development of international cooperation on the implementation of trans-boundary water quality assessment and improvement through cooperation between Belarus and Poland; - River basin management and environmental status of the Daugava/Zapaknaya Divina basin; - Strategies and options for environmental protection and review of the Prut river tributaries, Moldova; - Water quality management in the border regions of Kaliningrad to Lithuania and Poland, and Kaliningrad's coastal zone; - Development of an environmental quality management system for the Patsojoki (Paz) river; - Lower Danube lakes: international programme for habitat restoration and protection and sustainable improvement of ecological safety of cross-border regions; - Establishment of institutions for small and medium-sized business support.
