This represents a first attempt to evaluate the socio-economic impacts that renewable energies have at national, regional and local levels, is now available The report, "Evaluation of the socio-economic impacts of renewable energies: Global survey to decision makers", details a study by the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS) of the JRC. The study considered the possibilities of transferring renewable energy technologies to countries in the Mediterranean region and looked at the impact of renewable technologies on the environment as well as the socio-economic impacts. It reported on the main socio-economic impacts of implementing renewable energy projects, and the impacts they have had in rural areas. The report follows on from questions posed on the impact of renewable technologies on social welfare, migration flows, technology status, culture, security of energy supply and the environment.
