The Joint Research Centre requires several services concerning the reprocessing of experimental irradiated nuclear fuel at its Ispra site, for which an invitation to tender has been issued.

The services involve all necessary operations to perform the reprocessing of the experimental irradiated fuel from nuclear facilities, namely:

- design of handling operations and related equipment (inclusive of cask selection) to prepare the irradiated fuel for delivering;

- execution of fuel-handling operations;

- transport services to and from the reprocessing plant;

- reprocessing of spent fuel;

- possibly: sale of recovered uranium and temporary storage of wastes;

- possibly: storage services of the reprocessed spent fuel.

The experimental irradiated fuel to be reprocessed includes about 700 kg of medium-high level burn-up fuel and about 8900 kg of very low level burn-up fuel.
