The European Commission, DG XIII, has published a revised edition of the Work Programme for the "Language Engineering" sector of the Telematics Applications specific RTD programme. The new edition of the Work Programme replaces previous versions and should be used in the preparation of proposals under the call for proposals due to be published on 17 December 1996. The Work Programme outlines the areas in which research may be supported by the "Language Engineering" sector of the Telematics Applications programme. The focus is on pilot projects that integrate language technology and components into information and communications systems. In addition, projects may aim to improve ease of use and functionality and broaden the scope of applications across different languages. Support will also be given to projects which develop reusable language resources and for focused language engineering research efforts leading to medium-to-long-term applications.
