The ACTS InfoWin project has published a report entitled "ATM in Europe - ACTS Trials". This publication, part of the InfoWin "Thematic Issues" series, provides an overview of European R&D in the ATM area, focusing on the activities, trials and results of the Community's specific RTD programme in the field of Advanced Communication Technologies and Services (ACTS). The following main areas are covered: - State of key ATM standards; - European research in broadband communications and ATM, including results from RACE and TEN-IBC; - ATM projects in ACTS; - European infrastructure for ATM trials; - ATM and the evolution towards IBC; - ATM references in the WWW. The publication is targeted primarily at professionals in the field of advanced communication technologies and services (researchers, consultants, network managers) and users interested in the currant status of ATM and its evolution in the near future. The reader is expected to have a general knowledge of ATM and other telecommunication technologies, but need not be a specialist.
