The European Commission, DG XI, has published an invitation to tender for the completion of a study on waste from waste treatment operations. The study, which is to cover the 15 Member States of the European Union, will include the following elements: - Defining relevant waste-treatment operations and describing the wastes generated as a result of these operations, both in quantity and composition; - Describing the current situation as regards the waste management of these wastes; - Developing scenarios to estimate changes in quantity and composition of these wastes; - Identifying areas for improvement of waste management of these wastes; - Assessing environmental and economic impacts of the waste management of these wastes in the context of the European Community Environmental Policy and the Community Strategy for Waste Management. The study must be completed within 12 months from the date of signature of the contract.
