National Center of Competence in Research in Nanoscale Science
The programme provides an instrument that should ensure that the limited resources of a small country are used as efficiently as possible. A key concept is the bottom-up approach, in which researchers not only propose the themes but also create the structures themselves to carry out their research and exploit the results.
The main goal of the NCCR Programme is the long-term reinforcement of Switzerlands international competitiveness in strategically significant research areas by promotion of thematic research activities of the highest quality.
Thematic Priorities:
- Life sciences
- Molecular machines and nano-robots
- Quantum computing and quantum communication
- Nanosciences at the extremities of todays production%l - manipulation and measurement methods
- Nanomaterials - from biological systems to nanoclusters
