Research and training programme (Euratom) - Applied data processing, Information Analysis Centre, contract research and training -, 1973-1976
The programme was drawn up in accordance with the Council Resolution of the 17 December 1970 concerning the procedures for adopting research and training programmes (Official Journal No L 16 of 20.1.1971).
To provide high level services and to undertake development activities in selected fields of informatics within a Community framework; to support activities in special fields of nuclear engineering; and to promote the industrial valorization of JRC research through the diffusion of ideas, processes or patents originating from JRC activities.
Four projects:
- Applied data processing:
. Development and experimental evaluation of an integrated system for automatic documentation;
. Development of methods and systems of computing to facilitate the interaction between users and computers and allow users an optimal benefit of available resources;
. The European Computer Program Institute (EUROCOPI), a service for promoting the sharing of computer software within the Community;
- Information Analysis Centre:
. Three units for the compilation, analysis and distribution of scientific and technical information:
. European Shielding Information Service (ESIS);
. International Nuclear Data Center (INDAC);
. European Structural Mechanics Information Service (ESMIS);
- Contract Research:
. Carrying out special tests on apparatus patented by the JRC;
. Organization of stands and of scientific exhibitions;
. Development of ideas and processes which may potentially lead to contracts or for which contracts have already been drawn up;
- Training:
. Three courses, at technical post-graduate courses and advanced specialized courses.
The Commission, assisted by the board of governors of the Joint Research Centre (JRC), was responsible for the implementation of the programme by means of the services of the JRC (Ispra).
