Fundamentals, functionalities and applications of cavity solitons

Objectif

The FunFACS project aims at greatly enhancing the scope of cavity soliton science and technology through research into their Fundamentals, Functionalities, and potential Applications. It proposes to realise scientific breakthroughs with a large potential impact in opto-electronics by the demonstration of self-sustained cavity soliton lasers in the continuous wave as well as in a pulsed regime originating from the localisation of light in the three transverse plus longitudinal dimensions.

The partners will finally aim at utilising the experimental proofs of principles for the realisation of demonstrators of embryonic all-optical processing functionalities specific to CS properties. These demonstrators will use and possibly combine driven and self-sustained laser devices. It also planned to investigate the mechanisms of interaction and clustering of CS and the gradient-CS interaction, and to contribute to the implementation of an optical soliton force microscope (SFM) as a probe for material/structure.
