Objective
INCITE responds to the need of giving Euro-Indian RandD relations a permanent co-operation basis. It combines 2 blocks of interdependent activities: the mapping of Indian IT R&D resources, and the preparatory activities to establish a National Contact Point in India.
Objectives:
- to draw a thorough mapping of Indian IT resources in 6 strategic fields where excellence hubs have started to emerge. Sectors primarily addressed: Mobile and Wireless Systems beyond 3G, Cross Media content for leisure and entertainment, Networked audiovisual systems and home platforms, Future Emerging Technologies and e-Inclusion. Mapping will allow Europeans to find the right partners in India and will be turned into concrete co-operation tools for the IT actors of both regions.
- to raise awareness in the Indian IT community on co-operation within the IST programme with Europe. The IT hubs emerging from the mapping will be the target of awareness raising sessions aimed at boosting the co-operation potential between European and Indian IT.
- Set the pre-conditions for the establishment of the first IST NCP in India. This activity will be based on: training from a European NCP with relevant experience in transfer of knowledge towards other NCPs; defining the financial viability model for the potential NCP. The outcome of this activity will be a business plan and a roadmap to set up the first IST NCP in India.
All these activities are strongly interdependent. The mapping of Indian IT resources grows in significance if it is backed by the establishment of a permanent co-operation platform. Starting a permanent co-operation framework on the other hand cannot do without a clear picture of the resources on the ground.
