ReAlising DynamIc vAlue chaiNs for underuTilised crops

Deliverables

Conceptual framework for holistic sustainability and resilience analysis of multifunctional value chains

This framework will integrate farm and value chain performance metrics into a coherent set of LCA life cycle analysis and parallel metrics to holistically benchmark UCs and DVCs against industrialised crops and value chains

A framework for the analysis of current policy and governance of agrifood systems

We will review the main components of the European policy environment that has the potential to increase agricultural biodiversity We will identify policy windows in the broader policy framework cultivar and novel food registration nutrition trade procurement climate through studies looking at the impact of these policies on decisionmaking and will involve experts and stakeholders from selected case studies to assess the role of EU policy and implementation

Report and Open Access paper on UCs and farm level performance

This assessment will consider farm performance at two levels: (i) at the individual crop level, and (ii) at the level of a farm as a whole. Open access publication will be produced, making the data publicly available.

Report and videos recognising the role of AURORA Farmers in the support of PGFRA and local traditions and food heritage

In collaboration with FAO-ITPGRFA, a set of videos and reports will be delivered, showcasing AURORA Farms, recognising the role of farmer’s vis-à-vis ecosystem goods and services derived from UCs.

Analysis of the implication of current policy and governance of agrifood systems on the use of UCs

We will accurately analyse European agrifood policies (CAP), strategies (EU Biodiversity Strategy and Farm-to-Fork Strategies) and the EU’s global commitments (CBD, SDGs, COP21) to identify incentives and policy innovations throughout the value chain to maintain UCs and boost agrobiodiversity via the value chain.

UC value chain sustainability and resilience

Report on UC value chain sustainability / resilience

Practice Abstracts - batch 1

This deliverable contains 24 practice abstracts.

Fully mapped value chain actors for UCs and AURORA Farms

Value chains are complex systems which are constantly changing especially under conditions affected by unexpected eg pandemic situations This deliverable will deliver the mapping and analysis of how DVCs for UCs are managed across Europe using our AURORA Farms as case studies

Fully loaded Agrobiodiversity data warehouse platform

A platform will be constructed based on the mapping of the value chain actors, identification and integration of the data retrieved from their operations, selection of the kind of data that is relevant for the value chain assessment and modelling and understand how to retrieve data automatically on the long term.

e-RADIANT mobile phone app

e-RADIANT mobile phone app ready for deployment.

Communication Plan, Communication Toolkit & RADIANT web-site

Communication guidelines eg editorial options for news and plans for the Consortium will be outlined and made available to ensure standardised use by the Consortium A website containing all information of the project and resources to be accessed will be delivered

Short animation clips and Video on UCs

A series of short animation clips 4 videos of one minute focusing on different aspects related to UCs directed at different interest groups cooking qualityclimate changeetc will be produced

Inventory of collections multiplied, made available to partners

Identification, collection and multiplication of the genetic resources of RADIANT core UCs. Individual owners of the germplasm will do their own multiplication. Related data will be reported, including the putative geographical origin of the accessions. Efforts will be made to gather historic phenotypical data (literature-based), to enhance and complement the project generated data. Information will be gatherd on and, where research work is proposed, arranged to multiply the working collections.

Methods, data, metadata transferred to Zenodo (yearly)

A RADIANT ‘community’ will be created on Zenodo (OpenAIRE), to upload open access public reports and outputs.

European UC-Cluster

Coordinators of the other SFS-01-c projects will be engaged from the project onset. A dedicated European UC-Cluster will be created, coordinated by UCP and co-led by the Coordinators of the other SFS-01-c projects. The foundation for the UC-Cluster will be established within the first year of RADIANT and the network will work as a functional group of stakeholders realising producer-consumer linkages via DVC.
