Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project

1. This summary should give readers a clear idea of the context and overall objectives of what the project was about.
The main idea of this project was to organise two competitions for transport research awards to be presented at the TRA conference in 2022

- A young researcher competition was aimed with the goal of increasing the interest among young researchers/ students by addressing the opportunities in the field of sustainable surface transport.
- A competition for senior researchers in the field of innovative surface transport concepts based on results only from EU-funded projects.

The objectives to be achieved by the TRA Visions project were:
- To accomplish a strong attendance of young transportation researchers in the TRA-2022 conference;
- To spot the top performing young researchers considering all modes of surface transportation and acknowledge their achievement;
- To gain strong participation from senior researchers in transportation in the TRA-2022 conference
- To identify champions of transport research in EU funded projects
- To further promote the TRA conference as the premier series in its field worldwide,
- To achieve a valuable coordination with the TRA conference organisers in order to gain from high level of media coverage.
- To build a spirited community of young transport researchers in the European Union, EU candidate and potential candidate countries and the European Economic Area;
- To foster and acknowledge excellence in the field of research at senior level
- To support an inter-disciplinary approach, linking basic science, socio-economics and applied sciences/engineering;
- To trigger the imagination of delegates at the TRA-2022 conference and provoke discussion on the foreseeable future of surface transport;
- To promote the essential interaction between young transport researchers and senior researchers working in different modes.

2.1 Introduction
This section specifies the deliverables per WP completed during the duration of the project. The attached document in the Technical Report Part B consists of a detailed progress outlined per WP and for each WP there is a summary of the work done and the progress towards objectives and details for each task, listing of the significant results as well as the use of resources and any deviations from Annex

• D5.3 Promotion material (Flyer, posters etc.) integrated into projects website
• D5.4 Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) Strategy

The final outcomes of the project which were the effective organisation execution and dissemination of the two transport competitions achieved the following impact goals.
- The competitions and project final outcomes encouraged young researchers/students to submit their research work to the competition.
- The competitions and project final outcomes encouraged partners from EU-funded projects to further develop innovative ideas from their projects.
- The competitions and project final outcomes directly provided support to the TRA conference as a successful, high quality scientific event with a high level of media coverage which is considered as the largest Transport research conference in Europe.
- The competitions and project final results efficiently disseminated knowledge and results of European and National research projects in the area of Sustainable Surface Transport and thus improved the coordination of research, technology development and innovation in the Surface Transport sector in Europe.
- The competitions and project final outcomes also enhance European competitive advantage.
