Periodic Reporting for period 1 - SwiftV2X (Smart mmWave and MultiRATs for Multihop Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) Communications in Connected and Autonomous Vehicles)
Período documentado: 2021-12-01 hasta 2023-11-30
SwiftV2X project has being severely affected by COVID-19, especially during 2021 and 2022, due to the pandemic breakout situation. The most critical point during the reporting period has been realizing the planned secondments, many of them have been postponed due to researchers hesitating to travel overseas (even after the situation becoming stable and normal).
significant complication for the support of quality of service (QoS) in vehicular communications where a single network infrastructure requires to support a wide range of QoS metrics. Relying on a specific radio technology (such as mmWave) with monotone transmission characteristics constrains the QoS support. Thus, a practical approach for vehicular communications is the inclusion and coordination of various radio access technologies (RATs) to support of diversified communication services and increase radio accessibility. The main objective of our research is to propose Smart mmWave multiRATs for multihop V2X (SwiftV2X) cellular communications in the CAV environment. Our approach includes (i) smart mmWave beam allocation solution to support high data rate communications; (ii) smart cooperative multiRAT selection to compensate for the coverage of mmWave and improve radio accessibility; (iii) efficient vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) multihop solution to enable timely exchange of critical messages for delay sensitive operations in vehicular communications. Our goal is to propose a solution for beam-aware multiRAT and multihop V2X communications.
