Recycling shredded used tyres and rubber waste into personalized recovered Carbon Black to limit use of fossil fuels and carbon dioxide emission

Project description

Innovative tyre recycling solution

The production of rubber tyres is important for the European economy. However, the industry consumes fossil fuels, generates waste and harmful emissions, and only a small fraction of used tyres are recycled. Syntoil S.A. has developed a continuous pyrolysis process that limits the usage of fossil fuels and minimises waste and carbon dioxide emissions. The EU-funded CBreCYCLE project focusses on the main products of pyrolysis by developing a unique method that recovers carbon black (rCB) from the char and could replace traditional carbon black in tyre production and other applications. The project will seek support from the EIC Accelerator to develop an industrial scale demonstration and prepare the method for commercialisation.
