The work done on trains demonstrations of the new prototypes are :
• Silicon Carbide (SiC) traction sub-systems for tramway, metro and regional trains technology development. Three demonstrations took place in Germany, Spain and on the Velim test track in Czech republic.
• Low greenhouse gases HVACs demonstrations done on 2 trains in Germany.
On SiC Traction, an analysis and influence of the SiC technology in the Metro traction system has been described. The other reports describing SiC Traction demonstration have been released for AC Traction systems on tramways, sub-urban trains, and regional trains. A first report on “train integration of HST traction system based on independently rotating wheels” has been prepared (but not finalized)
On low CO2 HVAC, on train demonstrations, two test reports have been released.
In parallel to these demonstrations, the KPIs progress consolidation of the project have been quantified and described in two dedicated deliverables.
On Traction systems virtual validation, a deliverable has been released on the application of virtual validation concepts for Traction system.
Study of lifetime prediction of power semi-conductors took place, the environmental requirement specification included harmful gas requirements report was delivered and conclusion on the reliability improvements was given.
The project delivered also a road map to achieve the full suppression of fossil fuel rolling stock.
Period3 specific work performed+ exploitation and dissemination:
During Period3 (2023 calendar year) , the only technical work performed was :
• CAF completed its SiC based traction system on train test in Spain
• Talgo implemented and completed its wheel-motor prototype test on a HST train in Spain.
The last report on Train integration of HST traction system based on independently rotating wheels has been released.
The only dissemination action performed in Period3 was the Talgo presentation of its on train test results in the “11TH WORLD CONGRESS OF HIGH-SPEED RAIL” in Morocco
