Project description
Researcher career development through smart specialisation in Normandy
Situated in the north-west coast of France, the Normandy region is a very important and dynamic economic area for the country. Focusing on research excellence and innovation activities, the EU-funded WINNINGNormandy project has set out to increase the international attractiveness and influence of the region by recruiting 40 two-year postdoctoral fellowships. The project has designed an ambitious training programme in smart specialisation areas (food industry, energy industry, mobility and logistics, health and risk management) and has created a pool of hands-on knowledge. Led by a consortium of interdisciplinary education institutes, research institutions, large infrastructures and 20 industrial partners, WINNINGNormandy will offer fellows secondments and specific training, as well as mentoring, networking and business opportunities.
Objective
The WINNINGNormandy Fellowship Programme will foster the research excellence and innovation activities, and increase the international attractivity and influence of the Normandy Region in France by recruiting 40 two-year postdoctoral fellowships in two calls. The choice of the host institution and the research topic in the frame of the 6 areas of smart specialization is entirely left to the experienced researchers based on individual-driven international mobility.
The consortium gathers the leading interdisciplinary higher education institutes, exceptional research organizations and large infrastructures in the region, as well as over 20 industrial partners (large groups, SMEs, start-ups) operating in the areas of specialization. They will strongly contribute to the implementation of the programme by hosting research fellows, providing secondments and/or specific training, intersectoral mentoring, networking and business opportunities. Several actors in human resources, project management, entrepreneurship and outreach complete the partnership to drive together the specifically tailored transferable skills training program, personalized career development, and encourage results exploitation and large diffusion.
This ambitious educational and research programme will structure and implement the HRS4R principles for the postdoctoral level recruitment, working and living conditions, training and career management in the region, as well as contribute to sustaining and developing industrial activity in Normandy, making the green and energy transition a success and improving the well-being of citizens and the resilience of the territory.
