Nanofix project aim to reduce the dangerous effect of corrosion and overload generated from weather phenomena like snow, ice and rain or chemicals from industrial exhaust gas on outdoor metallic elements like electric aerial cables, pipes and metallic frames.
These outdoor infrastructures are often critical ones to provide electricity, internet access or natural gas to cities and even countries, for this reason their operational continuity and resiliency is a mandatory requirements and every advance in the field must be adopted.
With Nanofix technology will be demonstrated the possibility to protect metallic critical cables and pipes using a small flying drone equipped with an innovative, miniature electrospinning apparatus to apply a thin, micrometric layer of polymeric nanofibers able to prevent corrosion and mechanical overload limiting the adhesion of water, snow, ice and corrosive particles/liquid with a proper selection of applied polymer and nanofiber morphology.
