D3.6 Working paper on good practices on linking engaged research and teaching (opens in new window)

The working paper will be produced by integrating the knowledge gained from the workingconferences (D3.2) and the joint research acquisition (D3.3) on how to create synergiesbetween research and education, through the experiences of research and teaching basedfaculty from diverse profiles

D4.5: Policy briefs and academic publications based on engaged research on post-industrial transitions (opens in new window)

By the end of this project, we will have at least 2 policy briefs and 2 academic publications based on the engaged research on post-industrial transitions that have been co-created in the context of UNIC4ER Engaged Research Infrastructure. This also includes contributions that reflect on the role that universities can play in these transitions, and how engaged research in particular has contributed to our experiences

This platform will be a subgroup of the larger UNIC4ER Community of Excellence and will also be connected to the UNIC Superdiversity Academy The network should enable firstgeneration researchers to share knowledge create expertise and collaborate on related issues

These collaborative initiatives, such as submitted RDI project proposals will be the spin-off of the infrastructure provided by the Post- Industrial Transitions Academy. This deliverable comprises of these initiatives’ public abstracts. The collaborative initiatives shall provide their output on the UNIC4ER Engaged Research Platform (WP5) and the initiatives’ impact will be monitored on the UNIC4ER Pulse Dashboard for Engaged Research (WP6)

In light of policy feedback from the funded projects to the European Commission, this is a short policy brief covering the second reporting period (M36).

The action plan is a guideline of best practices of different UNIC member institutions to support the firstgeneration scholars within its research community This plan will also specific the inclusion of nontraditional scholars in the support scheme for joint research acquisition D33 and the working conferences D32

This scheme will define how knowledge sharing on research acquisition will be shared in UNIC4ER and will specify under what conditions consortium developing proposals in the context of UNIC4ER can receive support in the form of practical assistance These conditions shall include aspects concerning the participation of nontraditional scholars such as scholars with a migration background D39

This preliminary Strategy will present a joint common understanding of engaged research and a series of strategic goals and priorities for the development of engaged research across the consortium It outlines the concept as well as methodologies of engaged research to be developed in UNIC It will also include indicators of engaged research to be developed together with WP6

This report will identify and display open science practices across partner institutions based on the data collection and analysis as well as conclusions of a best practice exchange webinar An integral part of the report should be guidance on open science which will facilitate the implementation of the Open Science Campus D52 and thus boost and promote the UNIC4ER engaged research agenda D24 and the UNIC4ER community of excellence D32

D1.2: A UNIC4ER Engaged Research Ethics Plan (opens in new window)

This plan covers tasks and deliverables from this proposal as well as ethical aspects of the engaged research we seek to inspire This Ethics Plan D13 aims to make sure that the project full complies with the European Commissions Ethics for Researchers 2013 charter and more generally the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union and the European Convention on Human Rights and specifically the national guidelines of the country where the partners are based and where the outputs will be published

D3.2 Working conferences with the UNIC4ER community of excellence on engaged research (opens in new window)

These working conferences, organized by the UNIC Engaged Research Taskforce (D1.5), will establish a responsive system of communication and will promote synergies among UNIC scholars, researchers and projects. It will also include the members of the IMISCOE Network, especially the researchers from the IMISCOE Standing Committees including “Superdiversity, Migration and Cultural Change” and “Education and Social Inequality”. We will develop three of these working conferences before the end of the project.

A UNIC4ER Open Science Skills course, covering topics like sound data management, preservation of scientific information, research integrity and science communication, will be developed and implemented for use on the UNIC Virtual Campus

Founding charter of the UNIC4ER PostIndustrial Transitions Academy The Post Industrial Transitions Academy will enable UNIC4ER to become a leading role model in Europe on how universities can contribute to postindustrial transitions in cities This academy will provide the research infrastructure within which the UNIC 4ERMeets the City Framework will be put into practice

D3.1 Online inventory of research excellence on engaged research (scholars, experts, projects, programs) within and beyond UNIC (opens in new window)

The online inventory will involve all UNIC researchers experts projects and programs undertaken or at proposal stage involved in engaged research This online inventory shall be disseminated via the UNIC4ER Engaged Research Platform WP5 and all projects shall be included on the UNIC4ER Pulse Dashboard for Engaged Research WP6

A UNIC4ER Open Science Program and Trainings, covering the topics Open Data, Open Access and Communicating and transferring results into politics and society, will be developed by M12 and implemented with participants from all eight partner universities

D5.2: UNIC4ER Open Science Campus: Research pillar embedded in UNIC Virtual Campus (opens in new window)

Based on the mapping of open science practices (D5.1) the UNIC4ER Open Science Campus as an integral part of the UNIC Virtual Campus will provide a platform for facilitating knowledge exchange and collaboration between UNIC researchers and stakeholders including the sharing of research outputs and outcomes through a gateway based on advanced data collection techniques

D4.2: Design of the UNIC4ER Meets the City framework for supporting the cocreation of engaged research on post-industrial transitions (opens in new window)

A framework report for the development of engaged research at a European level with all eight postindustrial cities The framework will serve as the basis of or inspiration to internal calls for collaborative initiatives It specifies at least 8 local engaged research roadmaps It also specifies how knowledge and expertise is shared how it promotes the development of truly European collaborations what practical support can be provided from UNIC4ER and how the initiatives can be made inclusive and representative for the superdiverse populations of the cities involved

D1.6: A UNIC4ER dissemination and communication report (opens in new window)

This report will include all specific dissemination and communication actions carried out during the project implementation (UNIC4ER Open Science Campus; UNIC4ER Pulse Dashboard for Engaged Research; a section on engaged research added to the UNIC web infrastructure; newsletters targeted to the academic community; targeted mailings to relevant academic organisations or networks).

The data management plan shall be approved by the UNIC Management Board as well as by the Data Officers of all eight partner universities The data management plan defines the procedures to be followed for data collection storage protection retention and destruction will comply with national and EU legislation in particular with The General Data Protection Regulation GDPR Regulation EU 2016679 which has entered in force in May 2018 The GDPR is aimed primarily to give control back to citizens and residents over their personal data and to simplify the regulatory environment for international business by unifying the regulation within the EU GDPR replaces the 1995 Data Protection Directive Directive 9546EC The data will be collected and managedfollowing strict procedures to avoid misuse ant to respect rights of the data owners guaranteed by EU law The data management plan should cover any type of data collected and stored during any of the tasks of this proposal
