Member State-level report on non-discrimination instruments (opens in new window)

An overview report of existing non-descrimination instruments at the Member State-level in the following cases BE, IT, FR, HU, RO, PL, NL. Beyond an inventory of the general instruments, special care will be given to three areas: climate-related decision-making and strategic litigation; decision-making and litigation concerning LGBTIQ+ rights; and decision-making and judicial action on rights of migrants and asylum seekers.

The scholars involved in the WP1 will produce a Think Piece on ‘Dissensus on Liberal Democracy in the 21st Century’, which will serve as a shared conceptual reference throughout the project.

Drawing from the jointly drafted think piece, this policy brief will give a first overview of the challenges facing EU supranational instruments in the face of mounting dissensus. All Policy Briefs are coordinated by a non-academic partner in collaboration with an academic one, in this case, the partnership involves HHC & ULB

Mid-Term Report on the progress made by the Impact & Dissemination Strategy, notably in qualitative terms related to the set-out indicators

State-of-the-art working paper on ‘The state of Autocratisation in the ENP & Case-Selection' (opens in new window)

An overview report seeking to assess the relative processes of autocratisation in the Western Balkans and the 16 bilateral ENP partners. this report will equally substantiate the choice of case studies the WP will chose to focus on as it moves forward.

Report analysing Rule of Law legal instruments existing at the EU and MS-levels (opens in new window)

In an effort to unpack and crystalise the shared defining features of current strands of ideational dissensus in EU policies, be they single-issue, multi-faceted or outright rejection of liberal democracy in the name of an alternative model, RED-SPINEL will produce a report analysing Rule of Law legal instruments existing at the EU and MS-levels. At the MS-level the case-studies are tentatively set as being BE, IT, FR, HU, RO, PL, NL (TBC)

Report on the use and potential use of the threat since the launch of the EU-level Rule of Law alert system (opens in new window)

A report collecting the latest information and state-of-plaay regarding the use of the ‘EU Rule of Law Toolbox’, including instruments such as: the new European Rule of Law Mechanism, the EU Justice Scoreboard, the infringement procedures and Article 7 TEU as well as the new Regulation 2020/2091 on the general regime of conditionality protecting the EU budget.
